Hear Me Now Teams? Check Mic First!

Teknozip – Microsoft Teams users can soon breathe a sigh of relief. The platform is finally addressing the age-old problem of microphone mishaps with a new "test your mic" feature. Scheduled for release in May 2026, this update will allow users to preview their audio before joining a meeting, eliminating those embarrassing "can you hear me?" moments.

The tech giant has been curating the Microsoft 365 Roadmap to keep users informed about upcoming features and updates. The addition of a microphone test option to Teams has been long-awaited, and its inclusion on the roadmap has been met with enthusiasm.

Before entering a meeting, users will be able to select "Test mic and speaker" on the pre-join screen. This will prompt them to record a brief audio clip, which can then be played back to ensure that the correct devices are selected and that the audio quality is satisfactory. This simple yet effective feature will help users avoid audio-related technical difficulties during important meetings and presentations.

The feature’s description on the Microsoft 365 Roadmap states: "Before joining a meeting on your pre-join screen, you can test your microphone and speaker to make sure others will hear you clearly. Select Test mic and speaker to record a short audio clip and play it back. This helps you confirm that the right devices are selected and that you’ll be heard – and hear others – once the meeting starts."

While the update is not yet available, its scheduled release in May 2026 means that users won’t have to wait too long to enjoy a more seamless and stress-free meeting experience. This addition brings Teams in line with other popular video conferencing platforms that already offer similar audio testing capabilities.
