Teknozip – Google Wallet has unveiled a timely update just as the summer travel season approaches, bringing enhanced flight tracking directly to your Android device. This new feature, rolling out now, promises to keep travellers informed every step of the way, from departure to arrival.

The core of this upgrade lies in the "Live Updates" feature, accessible on Android 16 and above. By simply adding your boarding pass to Google Wallet, you’ll unlock a dynamic status bar displaying vital flight information. Expect to see estimated arrival times, flight duration, and the airline prominently featured, all conveniently located on your lock screen and always-on display (if enabled).

Tapping the Live Update whisks you away to the ticket page, complete with a direct link to Google Flights for comprehensive details. When actively using your phone, the flight-tracking information cleverly minimises into a pill-shaped section in the status bar, residing in the top-left corner of the screen.

This at-a-glance information proves invaluable, particularly for those prone to travel anxiety or with tight schedules upon landing. The ability to effortlessly update friends and family on your progress adds another layer of convenience. However, it’s worth noting that the full potential of Live Updates hinges on the availability of in-flight Wi-Fi, as a consistent cellular connection remains elusive mid-air.

Beyond flights, Live Updates extends to other timed events, a functionality initially announced in October 2025. This mirrors similar flight tracking capabilities already present in Apple’s iPhone and iOS 26.
